5 tips for making your wedding day feel like a celebration, not a photoshoot

Your wedding day should feel like a joyful whirlwind of love, laughter, and maybe a little cake-smooching—not a long modelling session! Here’s how to keep your day about you, not the lens.

1. Be present in every moment (not just in front of the camera)

Let’s be honest, the day is going to fly by faster than you can say “I do.” Instead of stressing about whether your angles are right or if your hair is perfectly in place, focus on soaking up every little moment. Sneak those glances, hold hands, and let the nerves and excitement flow! The best photos come from the real, raw moments—so if you’re tearing up at the altar or cracking up during speeches, just go with it. Your presence (not your poses) makes the photos unforgettable!

2. Trust your photographer—we got this!

It’s your big day, and you should be able to enjoy every second of it without feeling like you’re stuck on a magazine shoot. Trust that your photographer knows how to capture you in the best light, literally and figuratively. We’ll get those magical shots without you even knowing we’re there most of the time. Relax and let us do our thing; we’re pros at catching you laughing, crying, and everything in between without needing you to “hold that pose” for an eternity.

3. Forget about the camera (yes, really)

Cameras can sometimes feel like that one friend who just can’t mind their own business, but on your wedding day, just pretend we’re invisible! The more you can focus on each other and enjoy the celebration, the more natural the photos will be. Think of the camera as a fly on the wall, capturing the laughs, the hugs, and the unplanned moments. So, hug your grandma a little longer, dance like no one’s watching, and maybe even steal an extra dessert—let us worry about making it all look perfect.

4. Plan meaningful moments that are all about you two

Your wedding day should feel like it’s filled with tiny pieces of you. Maybe you plan a pre-ceremony coffee together, or sneak away for a sunset walk during the reception—whatever it is, make time for moments that reflect your relationship. These aren’t just for the photos, they’re for you to savour and remember as part of this amazing day. When your wedding feels personal, the photos will naturally capture the uniqueness of your love story without feeling forced.

5. Embrace the unplanned moments (that’s where the gold is)

You can spend months planning down to the last detail, but we all know life loves to throw in surprises. Whether it’s a gust of wind messing with your veil or a guest busting out some…unique moves on the dance floor, embrace it all. The unexpected moments—your dog joining the ceremony, or your partner’s spontaneous dance move—are what make the day uniquely yours. Those little surprises create some of the best memories and the most genuine photos, and isn’t that what it’s all about?

Your wedding day isn’t about capturing flawless poses; it’s about capturing you. The moments you’ll cherish most are the unscripted ones—the shared laughs, the unexpected surprises, the joy you never see coming. By being present, trusting your photographer, and letting go of the idea that every second needs to look “perfect,” your photos will naturally reflect the magic of the day. So, breathe, laugh, cry, and enjoy the party! We’ll be there in the background, making sure you remember every beautiful, authentic moment exactly as it happened. Here’s to a wedding that feels as amazing as it looks!
